Ascend Airsoft is a relatively new manufacturer in the airsoft market, specializing primarily in visual customization for Wei-ETech airsoft guns. Their eye-catching pistol series is based on a GBB airsoft platform developed by WE Tech. The 1:1 scale pistol is rounded out with a strong recoil and a reliable 6mm BB GBB firing system.

The Ascend DP17 Custom is an improved replica of one of the world's most iconic modern pistols.

The most important improvements are loading grooves on the slide, highly visible fiber optic sights, threads in the barrel and a magwell for fast reloading.

The stippled grip is a further improvement that allows for better recoil control through increased grip.

The outer construction, like the original, is made of metal and polymer. The movable slide and strong blowback system give the user a very realistic feel. Combined with the metal inner barrel, the DP17 Custom achieves excellent accuracy and, with 0.20g BBs, a muzzle energy of up to 1.0 joule.

To create the perfect look, the slide, frame, and magazine well were colored using Ascend Airsoft's special high-computer transfer printing process. This includes perfectly matching lettering on the slide, such as "Zip it!!" and "Superhero landing!" on the left side, and "Say the magic words," "#Teabag," and "This End Towards Enemy ->" on the right. A smiley face and the obligatory unicorn were also printed on the top of the slide. The Force version features an interesting slide design with cutouts milled into the sides and top. These allow a view of the outer barrel in a distressed, vintage style. The grip is adorned with the superhero's face on both sides. The back of the grip features a very prominent "PEW" inscription, and a unicorn is painted on the front.
