The Edge II Gearbox is made by APS from sturdy aluminum and reinforced in important places. The steel gear set with a ratio of 18:1 runs on high-quality ball bearings. When it comes to the piston, APS uses a version complete with steel teeth, which is equipped with an aluminum piston head including ball bearings on the front. The steel spring guide is also equipped with a ball bearing so that the built-in M120 spring can be compressed without tension. For quick spring changes in use, the Spring Guide is of course manufactured in a quick-change spring system design. For a very good seal, the cylinder is made of stainless steel and has an aluminum cylinder head with a double O-ring construction in the front area. Of course, an aluminum nozzle with an internal O-ring should not be missing. The built-in components work together to ensure a very good seal with greatly increased reliability and durability.
Another highlight is of course the so-called Micro-Mosfet in a particularly small design, which regulates the current flow in the Gearbox. The MosFet takes the heavy currents from the mechanical switch assembly. This means that only a small current flows through the conventional switch, which prevents damage to the mechanical component.
This version of the Gearbox is equipped with a battery cable to the rear. The Gearbox is therefore intended for rifles in the M4 design with a battery compartment in the stock or the stock tube. The cable was provided with a T-plug connector by APS Airsoft.
For a reliable drive, we recommend using high torque or ultra high torque motors with the gearbox.
According to APS Airsoft, the Gearbox with the components in delivery condition can also be operated with an M140 tuning spring.
